NSCISD and GISD to return to campus Monday

Announcements from Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District and Gonzales Independent School District shared on Thursday, Dec. 3 stated that both districts will be returning to campus on Monday, Dec. 7.

Both districts had students off campus for two weeks, the week-long Thanksgiving break and an additional week of remote learning, due to COVID-19 concerns.

GISD shared an announcement to its Facebook page, where the district said it will continue to monitor cases. Here is that announcement:

GISD is happy to announce all GISD students will be returning to face-to-face instruction beginning next Monday, Dec. 7th through Wednesday, Dec. 16th. We will continue to monitor any COVID cases and ensure our students and staff remain safe and healthy. We look forward to seeing our students back in person next week.”

NSCISD shared an announcement on its district Facebook page reminding students to return district electronics and take-home packets on Monday.

Here is that announcement:

“Nixon-Smiley CISD will resume face-to-face instruction for all students on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020. Please be sure students return all electronic devices, chargers, and any packet materials on Monday.”

Waelder Independent School District will not be returning from its extended winter break until Jan. 11, 2021.
