Oberlin (Willie) Garcia

Mr. Oberlin (Willie) Garcia, 74, of Victoria, Texas passed away Monday, Jan. 2 surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Mr. Garcia was born, July 27, 1944 in Raymondville, Texas to Arnulfo and Josefa Garcia. Willie was a long-time resident of Victoria, Texas having lived in the Rosenberg area for many years as well. He attended school in Lyford, Texas. Willie enjoyed spending time with his family and was described as a friend to all.

Mr. Oberlin Garcia was preceded in death by his parents; Arnulfo and Josefa Garcia, sister, Beatrice Martinez; first wife, Elva Linda Garcia; son, Johnny Oberlin Garcia; great grandson, Liam Escamilla. He leaves behind his wife, Ersilia Garcia of Houston; siblings: Arnulfo Garcia Jr., Paula Villanueva, Josefa “Chepi” Perez, Lorenzo “Lencho” Garcia and Angelita Mascorro; daughter, Yvonne Rodriguez, Steve of Orchard; son, Willie Joe “Joey” Garcia, Jessica of Katy; step daughters, Melissa Frala, Rick of Cypress, Texas and Sonia Hernandez, Ruben of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren, Krystle Dostal, Ricardo; Ylencia Ramon, Kristen Garcia, Justin Novak, Linda Garcia, Joshua Hernandez, Dane Frala, Logan Frala and Ryan Frala, Krista Hernandez, and Zachary Hernandez; Great grandchildren, Johnnie Gonzales, Xoi Jaso, Gael Jaso along with many nephews and nieces.

Willie was an honorable person, father, and friend, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The Garcia family would like to give a special thanks to the Memorial Herman Hospice and staff who took great care of him in his final days of life.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 in the chapel of Katy Funeral Home 23350 Kingsland Blvd. Katy, Texas 77384.

Following the service, a reception will be held at The Cimarron Clubhouse, 818 ½ Pickford, Katy, TX 77450.
