Patty Nell Woodall McCullough

Patty Nell Woodall McCullough was born on July 23, 1933 in Nixon, Texas to Ima and Max Woodall. She was the middle child who early in her childhood earned the reputation as a loving peacemaker. Patty graduated from Nixon High School and thereafter attended South West Texas Teachers College majoring in Art. In 1952 she married Conrad Earl “Mac” McCullough. They had two daughters (Cheryl and Jan) and Patty became a dedicated and devoted mom.

Patty always found time for her friends. She was the consummate extrovert and viewed every stranger as a friend in waiting. Some of Patty and Mac’s dearest friends were a part of their Supper Club. This group met every single month for over 60 years without exception and enjoyed an evening of dinner, games, and fellowship

She was active in numerous social and charitable groups in Gonzales. Her love of beautiful flowers played out in her lifetime membership in the Spade and Trowel Garden Club. Her love of reading led her to join the Friends of the Library where she was a faithful volunteer. She was also a member of Mothers Study Club and Sesame Club. Patty also served on the Chamber of Commerce and owned and operated a ladies dress shop known as “The Clothes Tree.”

Patty was a member of numerous Bridge Clubs and never turned down an opportunity to play. She was a competitive player and earned her Life Master status playing tournaments across the country. Patty also had a love of adventure, and after retiring, she had the opportunity to travel and loved it! Patty’s many travels took her to Egypt, Israel, Greece, Turkey, China, Ireland, Scotland, England, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Alaska, Hawaii and coast to coast across America. Her bag was always packed and ready. She was simply waiting on a travel companion.

Patty had a heart for service and the Joy Bells of First Baptist was where she thrived. Her “gift of gab” was great therapy to those she visited in hospitals and assisted living facilities. In her mind, she was the one who was blessed by being able to visit with so many old and new friends who were unable to get out and about. Patty‘s greatest loves in life were her family and her church. She served both selflessly, lovingly, joyfully, consistently, and without fail.

Patty went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 24. She was preceded in death by her parents Ima and Max Woodall and her husband Conrad “Mac” McCullough. She is survived by her sister Kathryn Woodall Caraway of Nixon, Texas and her brother Robert Wayne Woodall of Gonzales, Texas. Her legacy lives on through her daughters: Cheryl Gosch of McKinney, Texas; Jan Hodges (Will) of McKinney, Texas; Granddaughters Elizabeth Gosch Cuzco of Denton, Texas; Caroline Gosch Wunder of Sunset, Texas; Catherine Gosch and Christina Gosch of Purcell, Oklahoma; Grandson Jacob Hodges of Melissa, Texas; Great Granddaughter Millie Hodges; Nephews Kim Caraway of Gonzales; Kevin Caraway of Nixon; Niece Christi Caraway Dixon of Nixon.

Visitation will be held at the Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 29. Services for Patty McCullough will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30 at First Baptist Church, Gonzales, Texas with the burial immediately following at the Masonic Cemetery.
