Rev. Frank S. Walker, 98, of Austin, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 20 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Austin with Rev. Sylvester Chase officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. at Griffin Chapel Cemetery near Milano. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to service time on Saturday.

Frank was born Aug. 20, 1917 to Hugh and Annie Eliza (Stephens) Walker in Elm Slough, Texas (Gonzales). He was one of 10 siblings.  

Frank graduated in 1936 from Phillis Weatley High School in San Antonio. In 1939 he joined the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and in 1940 he received his Bachelors Degree from Tillotson College in Austin.  

In March of 1942 during WWII Frank was inducted into the U.S. Army and in September of 1942 he married Eva Nell Nelson. He received his Master of Divinity in 1948 from drew Theological Seminary in Madison, N.J. and in 1965 received his Master of Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. 

Frank worked in the Austin Independent School District in the counseling department and also worked for the Job Corps in San Marcos. He was a minister in the Southwest Texas Conference United Methodist Church until his retirement in 1981.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Nell Walker; parents, Hugh and Annie Walker; and his siblings, Ethel, Hugie, Tilman, Claude, Crockett, Howell, Roy, Rae Adel, Baby Walker and Helen.

Rev. Walker is survived by his son, Frank S. Walker Jr. and wife Susan of East Texas; daughter, Callie Bradford of Austin; grandchildren, Lamar Bradford, Jessica Walker and Mackenzie Walker; as well as a host of nieces and cousins.

Pallbearers are Charles Murphy, Freddie Starkes, Ken Harris, Terrell Edison, Dawn Tisdale and Grant Coffman.

Honorary Pallbearers are the Intergenerational Choir and Omega Psi Phi.
