Reyes Gomez

Reyes Gomez of Bastrop, Texas and longtime resident of Salinas passed away Jan. 10. Mr. Gomez was born January 6, 1929 in Karnes City, Texas.

Mr. Gomez was a retired Certified Master Welder working for various welding companies out of Salinas Valley in California. He worked for Chular Welding Co., Johnson Welding, Valley Tank and Welding, and Ramsey Welding Co. During his career Mr. Gomez worked on military bases doing work for the government. He also built and assisted in designing farm equipment that was distributed throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, as well as the Middle East. Upon retirement Mr. Gomez returned to his Native Texas.

Reyes was preceded in death by his parents Tiburcio (Butch) and Luisa C. Gomez; daughter Antonia Gomez; and all his Brothers and Sisters.

Reyes is survived by his wife of 62 years Aurora Gomez; son Tiburcio (Butch) Gomez of Gonzales, Texas; daughters Rosa (Jim) Taylan of Salinas, California, Dina (Donald) Trafton of Northridge, Ca, Cory Morales of Bastrop, Tx, Sallie (Steve) Mendoza of Salinas, Ca; grandchildren Gregory, Matthew, and Victoria Gomez of Gonzales, TX, Nathan (Tiffany) Taylan of Paso Robles, Ca, Nicole Taylan of Salinas, Ca, Dina Trafton (Phil Brown) of Studio City, Ca, David (Dee Gonzalez) Trafton of Canoga Park, Ca, Joshua Morales of Bastrop, and Toni Mendoza of Salinas, Ca; two Great Grandchildren; and numerous Nieces and Nephews in Texas and California.

Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, Bastrop Providence Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, Bastrop Providence Funeral Home Chapel.
