NEW BRAUNFELS — The Apaches will be sending two sophomore golfers to the Region IV-4A tournament next week as Mason Richter won the district title on the boys side and Kiley Allen took fourth overall on the girls side.

The boys team placed fifth in the District 27-4A golf meet at the Bandit Golf Course in New Braunfels. They totaled a score of 872 strokes. Wimberley 1 took first at 662 while Navarro 1 took second at 677. Both teams will advance to regionals.

Mason Richter was the top golfer with a total of 147 strokes, scoring 72 on the first day and 75 on the next. Wimberley’s Noah Woods placed second with a score of 154.

On the girls side, Wimberley and La Vernia advanced with their scores, with the Lady Texans scoring 740 and the Lady Panthers scoring 772. Gonzales ended the tournament with 949 strokes.

Leading the way for the Lady Apaches was Kiley Allen, whose two-day score of 181 strokes placed her fourth overall. Top three golfers were Faith Kilgore of Wimberley, Jackie Hennetle of La Vernia and Lana Joseph of La Vernia. Since those three golfers are a part of teams that are advancing to regionals, Allen was named first individual medalists, advancing her to the regional meet.

The Region IV-4A golf meet is set for April 23-24, with the boys playing on the Lozano Golf Course at Corpus Christi and the girls playing at Oso Golf Course in Corpus Christi.
