Galveston - Robert (Bob) J. Bright, 78, peacefully passed away at 11:00 a.m. August 18, 2016. He was born on August 4, 1938 in Gonzales, Texas to the late Judge Eli Ray (Buster) Bright of Gonzales and the late Pauline Sanders of Luling. He was devoted to his family and his work. He began his life working for Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative as a lineman to eventually retiring after owning and operating Galatex ETI in Galveston. He served one enlistment with the Texas National Guard.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl R. Bright of Hallettsville. A nephew, Dean B. Baker of Gonzales and his second loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Mary Ann (Dunaway) Bright of Baytown. He is survived by his son Kevin B. Bright of Hallettsville. Daughters Jan Henkel of New Mexico, Pam Moffatt and Nan Henkel both of Galveston. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Elaine Baker of Gonzales, his brother Barry Bright of Gonzales, William Bryan Bright of San Antonio and Wesley (Pepper) Hubbard of Lockhart. He is also survived by his first wife, Bettye J. Appelt, of Hallettsville.

There are no services set at this time. His son Kevin Bright will be arranging a memorial service and burial at a later date. His wish was to be cremated upon his death as was his devoted wife Mary Ann. His spirit is now in the hands of our Lord, where he is surrounded by the loved ones who went on before, to prepare all, our final resting place.

The Bright Family first settled in Lavaca County in 1851 then moved to Gonzales County in 1892 upon the death of Gatlin Bright.
