Robert Lee Nesloney, Sr., 75 of Gonzales passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016. Robert was born Jan. 21, 1941 in Woodsboro to Bernard Alex Nesloney and Mary Shepherd Nesloney. As a youth in Woodsboro Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. He joined the U.S. Army shortly after high school and was stationed in Boston, MS. Robert returned on leave during his service to his country to marry Linda Lavonne Smith on June 26, 1960 in Woodsboro.

After completing his tour of duty, Robert and Linda moved back to Beeville where Robert worked for Paul Avery Construction and as an officer for the Beeville City Police Department. Robert drove a truck for the company and as an avid pilot he flew the Paul Avery Construction Company’s airplane as needed by the company.

In 1973 he moved his family to Luling as he began a career with Mobil Pipeline Company. Much of his time with the company was spent working in Saudi Arabia. He retired in 1994 and moved to Belmont where he built a home along the Guadalupe River.

Robert, always the adventurous type, took up prospecting for gold in the wilderness of Alaska. Back at home during the winter months Robert loved raising his longhorn cattle.

Robert was a loyal hardworking family man. He was a loving yet firm father. He was a man that never minced words, never sugar coated his beliefs or where he stood on any given subject, he was precise and clear so that there would be no misunderstandings. Simply put, he was a man’s man and the term “politically correct” never entered his mind.
