Gonzales County Sheriff

Robert Ynclan (R)

Posted

Hello, my name is Robert Ynclan. I was born in a small south Texas town and I was raised in the hill country. I started my career in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff in La Salle County. I was later promoted to chief deputy. I am a retired State Trooper that served 35 years on the front line. My wife and I have been married for 29 years and we have three children.

My parents had 12 children and worked hard to support us, so my values of hard work, integrity and dedication were all instilled in me by my parents.

I want to be Sheriff because it has been a lifetime goal of mine! Over the years, I have met many people and have enjoyed protecting and serving the citizens of Gonzales County. I would like to continue my service to the citizens of Gonzales County as Sheriff.

My goals as sheriff are to protect the places of worship, our children in the schools and the court systems; intolerance for lawlessness; and enforce traffic laws and child custody cases. I intend to support our veterans, the elderly, child welfare and family violence organizations. I will work with our other law enforcement agencies to combat crime and work with our commissioners to be fiscally conservative with the respect that it is our taxpayer’s money.

As a retired DPS Trooper I have access to training from DPS with no charge to the county. I intend to utilize that service for the Sheriff’s Department education and training. I will implement innovative and progressive policy strategies. I will host various community events to support our organizations, execute crime prevention and develop a mentorship program for our youth. My vision for the community is to see trust in law enforcement through fairness and respect for all.
