Rosie Pearl Moore, 72, of Gonzales, passed away May 16, 2017 at home surrounded by loving family after a long and courageous battle with ALS. Rosie was born on March 16, 1945 in Leander, Texas to Henry Loyed and Leila Pearl Rose Hollis. She grew up in the Leander-Jollyville area. In October 1966, she met the love of her life Bobby Moore when her Dad stopped at a gas station for air in his tires and Bobby was working at the station. The two were married (after dating for only 3 months) on January 7, 1967 and had just recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Rosie was born and raised on a farm; she was a country girl through and through. She knew first-hand the hardships and tremendous pleasures of country living. She was an immaculate housekeeper, an excellent cook and a savvy bargain shopper. She enjoyed the peaceful scenes of squirrels playing, watching the hummingbirds come to her hummingbird feeder and she delighted in feeding the wild birds that came to her bird feeders as well. Rosie rejoiced in listening to Elvis Presley. She enjoyed attending Houston Astro baseball games, reading history books and studying her bible, but most of all she loved spending time with family, especially holidays and the sharing in the joy of reminiscing days long past but forever cherished. She loved going to the movies.

Rosie worked primarily as a loving mother and homemaker. She made breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day for her husband and three children. When her children came home from school she greeted them with a smile and a snack asking about how the day had gone. Family was what life was about to her. She wanted her children to grow up to be loving, respectful adults. She treasured every accomplishment of her three children.

Rosie was blessed with five beautiful grandchildren as well as two step grandchildren. She was the daycare for three of her five grandchildren at one time or another-keeping one of them right up until he started kindergarten. She celebrated each of their accomplishments as well.

Rosie is survived by her loving husband, Bobby, son, Robert Dale Moore of Round Rock, daughter, Susan Lynn Moore of Gonzales, son, Dennis Allen Moore (Gretchen) of Lockhart, granddaughters, Tiffany and Katherine Moore of Round Rock, grandson, Cole Hollis Moore of Gonzales, granddaughters, Jessica and Emily Moore of Gonzales and step-grandchildren, Jessica and Trey Simmons of Lockhart, one sister, Laverne Ross (Jesse) of Austin along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Thomas “Bud” Hollis, sisters Ruth Lackey, Shirley Hammack, Lucille Morgan and Carylon Hollis.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Gonzales Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Trey Simmons, Robert Rodriguez, Jesse Ross, Mark Ross, James Hairell Jr., and Shane Morgan. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening in the Seydler-Hill Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas Hospice, 605 E Locust Ave, Victoria, TX 77901-3933 or to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022.

The family of Rosie Pearl Moore wishes to offer the heartfelt thanks to Hospice of South Texas, and the nursing staff at Gonzales Memorial Hospital for their care in her final days.
