Salvador “Sam” Sirilo, 71, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Gonzales Memorial Hospital in Gonzales, Texas.

Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at Saint James Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Burial will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. Military Honors presented by the U S Army Honor Guard. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Buffington Funeral Home with Deacon John Klapuch officiating.

Sam was born on April 21, 1945 in Gonzales, Texas. He was the son of Nicolas and Dora (Hernandez) Sirilo. Sam made a career of serving the United States of America. He served in the U S Army and Reserves for 21        years from 1967 until 1988. He was stationed overseas in Korea. He married Dominga Munguia on September 28, 1972 in Gonzales, Texas. Sam liked to go fishing and using his homemade sinkers he made with the lead he received from his nephew, Christopher Sirilo Rodriguez. He liked woodworking and sitting out on his porch. He liked to watch football and boxing, and listening to the “Oldies but Goodies”.

Sam is survived by his wife; Dominga Sirilo, seven sons; Luciano “Sonny” Sirilo of Gonzales, Texas, Americo “Ric” Sirilo of Gonzales, Texas, Lee Anthony Sirilo and his wife, Faye of Gonzales, Texas, Alonzo Sirilo And his wife, Kristina of Gonzales, Texas, Rayne Sirilo and his wife, Maricella of Gonzales, Texas, Alfonso Sirilo and his wife, Janie of Schulenburg, Texas, Salvador Sirilo, Jr. and his wife, Gloria of Waelder, Texas, three daughters; Samantha Sirilo of Gonzales, Texas, Tina Marie Parker and her husband, Alley of Belmont, Texas, Stephanie Lynn Sirilo of Gonzales, Texas, thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Nicolas and Dora Sirilo, one brother; Baldemar Sirilo, three sisters; Rosalba Martinez, Gloria Valenzuela, and Aurelia Sirilo Robledo.
