Search warrant leads to drug bust

GONZALES — Two local men were arrested after law enforcement found illegal drugs and paraphernalia while executing a search warrant.

At 5 a.m. April 15, police officers and sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Qualls St., Capt. Allen Taylor reported. Upon entering the residence police arrested Darrin Dearson, 43, of Gonzales, and conducted a search that led to the discovery of marijuana in his possession. Taylor said a woman and a small child were also inside the home.

While searching the home, officers found a glass pipe used for smoking meth, as well as a small amount of meth. Other kinds of drug paraphernalia were found as well, Taylor said.

Another man in the home was arrested — Jason Charles Dearson, 38, of Gonzales — after more meth and a small marijuana cigarette were found.

Both men were taken to Gonzales County Jail. Darrin Dearson is charged with possession of marijuana, and Jason Dearson with manufacture or delivery of substance in penalty group 1 and possession of marijuana.

Driver arrested for DWI in McDonald’s drive-thru

At 11:26 p.m. April 18, Officer Ryan Salles was dispatched to McDonald’s on Sarah DeWitt in reference to an intoxicated driver. Upon arrival Salles saw a white Chevy pickup in the drive-thru lane, and identified the driver as Cody Steele Bledsoe. Salles noticed Bledsoe had bloodshot eyes and that he reeked of alcohol, Taylor said.

Officers conducted a field sobriety test which indicated Bledsoe was too intoxicated to drive. Bledsoe, 21, of Bay City, was arrested and taken to Gonzales County Jail. He is charged with driving while intoxicated.

Man busted for fake weed

At 11 p.m. April 18, Officer J.D. Holt saw a car turn without signaling in the 1800 block of Huisache St. and pulled it over. Holt identified the driver as Austin Wade Perkins, 17, of Gonzales.

A search of Perkins led to the discovery of synthetic marijuana. Officers also learned Perkins had a warrant for his arrest out of Guadalupe County. Perkins was arrested and charged with possession of substance in penalty group 2A.
