Sentencing set for David Holt

GONZALES — David Holt, the man charged with sexual assault of a child, will appear for sentencing in Judge William Kirkendall’s District Court Friday.

Holt, 59, entered into a plea agreement with County Prosecutor Paul Watkins’s office on Feb. 5, and was ordered to appear for a sentencing hearing on March 11.

Holt was indicted by a grand jury on Dec. 2 for sexual assault of a child.

He faces 10 charges of indecency with a child by contact, six counts of sexual assault and three counts of aggravated sexual assault.

The charges stem from a victim outcry that occurred on Aug. 12 by a woman who said that Holt had sexually assaulted her in the past.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Holt, and the Texas Highway Patrol arrested him on Sept. 22 in Chambers County. He was transported to Gonzales County Jail on Sept. 29.

Holt was released on Oct. 2 after making bond on the charges, which totaled $40,000.
