The Gonzales FFA shooting team has expanded to over 40 members for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. With its growth, the team decided to introduce the inaugural Come and Break It event in an effort to raise funds for the team.

The sporting clay tournament is set for Nov. 16, with prizes and awards for the top male, top female, top junior male, top junior female and HOA Flurry team.

“Our team is a non-profit organization and we rely completely on donations

to make our team a success,” Jennifer Davis said. “To help raise money for our upcoming shoots, Gonzales FFA Shooting Team Booster Club is proud to be hosting our 1st annual Come and Break It qualifier shoot on Saturday Nov. 16 at the Eagleford Sporting Clays range located in Cuero.”

The FFA Shooting Team has already begun practicing with a goal to place at the shoots to be held at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and the Houston Stock Show in February 2020.

“At these shooting competitions, we will compete in the highly competitive shotgun shooting sports that include trap, modified trap and sporting clays,” Davis said.

Entry fee for the Come and Break It shoot is $125 for adults, $100 for juniors. The fee includes lunch. There’s also a side game, a two-man flurry, that costs $20.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by a safety meeting at 8:30 a.m. First flight is at 9 a.m., lunch is at 11 a.m. and another safety meeting at 12:30 p.m. Second flight, to be determined, may start at 1 p.m. Once all scores are turned in, awards and prizes will be announced.

“Register to shoot at iclays.com and come out and shoot with our team members,” Davis said. “Anyone is welcome to come have fun and break some clays for a great cause.”
