Simon Cantu

Simon Cantu blessed his parents Jesse and Consuelo Cantu’s life by entering this world Sept. 5, 1943 and made the angels dance eagerly waiting for him and the lord holding out his hand to guide him to his heavenly home on Nov. 1. He left this life surrounded by his brother, nieces and nephew.

To all who knew him, he gave you a smile or a fond memory to remember him by.

Simon walked this world the way he wanted, not how we perceive life should be lived. When his health permitted, he would often be found going to church to know the God who had his most prized possession, his mother, whom he has dearly missed since 1984.

As a young man, he loved spending time with his brothers lifting weights and boxing.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Jesse and Consuelo Nerio Cantu and brother San Juan (Johnny) Cantu.

He is survived by his loving family, sisters Elvira Jimenez, Delia Barnhart, Elena Gonzales, Dora Hernandez all from Brownfield, and brothers Robert Cantu from Brownfield and Daniel Cantu from Seguin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and a special niece Dorothy Cantu who looked after him for many years.

Family and friends will be having memorial services for Simon on Thursday, Nov 7 at St. James Catholic Church starting with the rosary at 1:30 p.m. and mass at 2 p.m.
