Sisto R. DeLeon Sr.

Sisto R. DeLeon Sr., 80, of Houston and Victoria, Texas, husband of Frances G. DeLeon, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, at Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion, Victoria, Texas. He was born in Gonzales, Texas on Nov. 3, 1937, son of Belen DeLeon, Sr. and Petra DeLeon.

Sisto worked for Weingarten’s Supermarket from 1968 until 1983, as a meat market manager, and as an independent butcher in Meat Markets (Ken’s Butcher Shop and Jim’s Supermarket) until retirement in 2007. He enjoyed Tejano music, playing poker, golf, going to casinos and watching sports. Married 57 years to the love of his life Frances G. DeLeon (survived), Sisto was a big-hearted man always opening his home to family and friends. Sisto was a family man, coaching his own children’s baseball teams when they were kids to filling in as a father figure to his youngest grandson. From a very modest upbringing Sisto was extremely proud of his family.

Sisto is preceded in death by his parents Belen DeLeon Sr. and Petra DeLeon and sister, Juanita DeLeon Ramirez. Sisto is survived by his sister, Amelia DeLeon Segura and brother, Belen R. DeLeon Jr.

Sisto is survived by his wife, Frances G. DeLeon, daughters, Sandra R. Hansen (Edward Hansen), Christina DeLeon and his son, Sisto DeLeon Jr. (June DeLeon), grandchildren, Albert R. Hansen (Courtney Hansen), Jacob A. DeLeon, Ashlee F. Hansen-Chagoya (George Chagoya), Breanna J. DeLeon, Armando Eric DeLeon and Thomas Perez (Sarah Perez) and his great grandchildren Logan E. Hansen and Kathryn ”Kate” N. Hansen.

Family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 21 from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Rafael Beccerra officiating at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman Street, Houston, Texas 77018 with the interment to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
