Lady Cardinals dominate state cross-country meet

WACO — The trophy case is going to need a bit more room.
Shiner St. Paul traveled to Waco for the TAPPS Cross-Country State Meet, dominating the girls race with a commanding 30 points led by freshman Julianna Davis who won the meet with a time of 13:09.2. The boys placed third overall behind Lubbock Southcrest Christian and Amarillo Ascension Academy.

On the girls side, Davis beat senior runner Lacy Matocha of Bryan St. Joseph by 13 seconds to take gold. Results include:

The win is St. Paul’s sixth straight, and ninth of the last 11 state meets. According to Lone Star Christian Sports Network, the Lady Cardinals nine state champions makes the team the third most dominated program since 1991 behind Dallas Ursuline Academy and Muenster Sacred Heart’s 11 state championships each.

On the boys side, Walker Jackson and Austin Davis ran close to each other, with just one second separating the two athletes. Results include:
