GOLIAD — Approximately 30 bull riders participated in the annual Professional Bull Riding (PBR) event at the Goliad fairgrounds last weekend, and it was quite a show.

A number of bull riders had good runs on their bulls, but it was Dylan Smith with a spectacular second round ride that pulled the championship out for himself over Texas’ Winston Lopez. Smith was awarded a score of 88.5 in the second go, placing him .5 points ahead of Lopez after two runs.

Arliss Hostetler finished close behind Smith and Lopez in third place.

“I was pleased with the huge attendance and good crowd we had on a very hot night in Goliad,” said event coordinator Bo Davis of Gonzales, Texas. “We had some good rides for the crowd, and everyone was very enthusiastic and supportive. This is one of the better events we’ve had on the circuit this year and I am thrilled so many people came out to watch and support these bull riders.”

Following Smith, Lopez and Hostetler in the top three were Ricky Aguiar, Skeeter Kingsolver, Lindomar Lino and Donald Francis.
