South Gonzales County gets the shakes

WESTHOFF – People in the rural area near Nixon were awakened by an earthquake this morning, the second one reported in nearly three months.The U.S. Geological Survey reported the 3.0 magnitude earthquake happened at 6:35 a.m. about 14 miles east of town.
The last earthquake occurred on Sept. 22, nine miles south of Nixon — in Gilette, with a reported magnitude of 2.9.
The Gonzales County Sheriff's Office had no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
