Cardinals compete at state tennis meet
Shiner St. Paul sent two girls duos to the TAPPS 2A girls state tournament last week. The duo of Scarlett Crawford/Catherine Brown lost to Plainview Christian Academy’s Sarah Hooton/Payton Teeple 6-4, 6-3. The duo of Novosad/Wagner beat Dallas First Baptist Academy 6-0, 6-1; beat Dallas Cambridge’s 6-3, 6-4; but then lost to Lubbock All Saints in the semifinal match 7-5, 6-4.

Shiner St. Paul await playoff opponents
Both the Shiner St. Paul baseball and softball teams are headed to postseason play. The Lady Cardinals took down Hallettsville Sacred Heart on April 20 to become undefeated district champions. The baseball team lost to New Braunfels Christian, finishing second in district. The Lady Cardinals’ originally scheduled warm-up game against Victoria St. Joseph tonight was canceled, though the team was looking for another opponent. No announcement has been made as of press time. Meanwhile, the Cardinals baseball team will take on Pasadena First Baptist at 6 p.m. at the Shiner Starplex today, April 26.
