Gonzales alum claims javelin bronze at Pan American Games
Gonzales High School alum Ariana Ince earned a bronze medal in the javelin event with her throw of 204 feet, 5 inches at the Pan American Games in Peru. American teammate Kara Winger took gold with her throw of 213-0. Canada’s Elizabeth Gleadle took silver with a throw of 207-8.

Lady Cats drop early contests
In an early-August matchup, the Waelder Lady Wildcats lost (25-10, 25-5) to the Buckholts Badgers last Thursday. The team then traveled to McDade on Tuesday, losing to the Bulldogs in a non-district game. Waelder will travel to Dime Box on Friday, then travel to Runge on Tuesday, with both games scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

Season tickets available to the public
All Apache football season tickets not picked up from last season will now be sold to the public.
The price of tickets will be $7 per game and $35 for all five home games. This year’s tickets may be picked up at the Apache Fieldhouse and tickets can be purchased from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. noon and 1-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you do to wish to purchase your tickets, please call Teresa Clack at 672-6641. The sale of season tickets will end at noon on Aug. 23. No season tickets can be sold after tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. Aug. 26 for the first game on Aug. 30.

‘Apache nation’ shirts to be sold at the Fieldhouse
The Gonzales Apaches athletic program are selling “Bleacher Creature” shirts with the Gonzales logo at the Fieldhouse for $5 for kids kindergarten – sixth grade. A T-shirt purchase will also get you free admission to all home games and the chance to run out the tunnel during pre-game before the football team takes the field.
