Apaches need help to make playoffs
The Gonzales Apaches basketball team took a tough 56-41 loss against Navarro last Friday before knocking off Poteet at home on Tuesday 56-54 to move to 3-6 in District 30-4A. The Apaches are a half game behind Cuero (3-5) and one game ahead of Poteet (2-7) and Navarro (2-7) with three games to go. Gonzales travels to Pleasanton (8-0) Friday night then host SA Brooks Academy (5-3) on Tuesday. Their final game is on Friday, Feb. 12, hosting La Vernia (7-1).
Lady Apaches on pace to take third place
After upsetting the Cuero Lady Gobblers last week, the Gonzales Lady Apaches (7-3) are on pace to take third place with their wins over Navarro last Friday and Poteet on Tuesday. Cuero still lead District 30-4A with a 9-1 record with La Vernia taking second at 8-2. Navarro sits at fourth place with a 6-5 record. The Lady Apaches travel to Pleasanton (4-6) on Friday before hosting SA Brooks Academy (0-11) next Tuesday.
Gonzales Lady Apaches drop road tilt
Gonzales took a 6-0 loss to a tough La Grange Lady Leopards team on the road Tuesday The Lady Apaches host Beeville Jones on Friday with varsity scheduled to play at 7 p.m.
Luling upsets #7 Karnes City
The Luling Lady Eagles lost to #11 Poth last Friday, Jan. 25, but then took down the District 27-3A leader Karnes City at home 49-47, knocking off the seventh ranked team in Class 3A. Luling sits at 5-3, third place in district. They travel to take on Stockdale (0-8) on Friday before hosting Nixon-Smiley (3-5) on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Lady Cardinals continue path toward district title
Shiner St. Paul has been dominant this district season, outscoring their opponents 158-59 to move to 3-0. The Lady Cardinals remain 2nd in the TABC 2A Private School poll. District play starts back up this Friday with the team traveling to play Bulverde Bracken Christian.
Cardinals now state-ranked
In their quest to repeat as district champions, Shiner St. Paul finished the first half of district schedule 3-0 after knocking off Victoria Faith Academy last Tuesday 65-45, then beating San Antonio St. Gerard 56-26. Both teams were at one point ranked by TABC in the 2A Private School poll, but after St. Paul’s impressive victories, the Cardinals are now the ones ranked 10th in the list of top 10 this week. District play starts back up this Friday as the team travels to play Bulverde Bracken Christian.
