Apaches run-ruled in district opener

The Gonzales Apaches lost 19-0 to open district against La Vernia on Tuesday. Gonzales travels to Pleasanton on Friday before hosting Navarro on Tuesday. Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Lady Apaches blow out SA Brooks

The Gonzales Lady Apaches softball team blew out San Antonio Brooks Academy 21-0 on Tuesday. They host Burton for a non-district game on Friday before traveling to La Vernia on Tuesday to continue district play.

Gonzales girls soccer playoff bound

The Lady Apaches girls soccer team lost 3-0 against Pleasanton to close out District 29-4A play 1-4-1. Playoff information was unavailable before press time.

Shiner St. Paul dominate district games

Both the Shiner St. Paul baseball and softball teams opened district play with huge wins. The baseball team defeated San Antonio St. Gerard 15-0 while the softball team beat Victoria Faith Academy 20-1. The baseball team is at home on Friday to play Bulverde Bracken while the softball team traveled to Victoria to play St. Joseph on Wednesday. The Lady Cardinals travel today to take on Hallettsville Sacred Heart.

Lady Apache lifter bombs out

Gonzales Lady Apache powerlifter Crystal Garcia competed in the state powerlifting meet last weekend, bombing out. Garcia placed sixth at the regional meet weeks ago.

Luling, Nixon-Smiley softball teams clash

Luling and Nixon-Smiley opened district play against each other, with the Lady Eagles taking the advantage Tuesday, besting the Lady Mustangs 17-4. Luling travels to Yoakum on Friday and hosts Poth on Tuesday while Nixon-Smiley hosts Karnes City on Friday and travels to Yoakum on Tuesday.
