St. Paul softball, baseball teams advance

Despite the rainy weather on Tuesday, both the Shiner St. Paul baseball and softball teams advanced to the next round of the playoffs after defeating their respective opponents at the Shiner Starplex.

Lady Cardinals 15, Holy Trinity Catholic 0

Shiner St. Paul 15-run ruled Temple Holy Trinity Catholic at home on Tuesday to advance to the third round of playoffs. The Lady Cardinals are set to take on San Marcos Hill Country Christian this Friday in Marion, though specifics weren’t announced before press time.

Cardinals 7, Conroe Covenant Christian 5

The Cardinals overcame a weather delay in the third inning to knock off Conroe Covenant Christian 7-5 on Tuesday. Zak Johnson pitched 4.0 innings, striking out nine batters while walking six, allowing two hits and three earned runs. Dalton Jahn pitched 2.2 innings, allowing one earned run and seven walks while striking out five. Gerard Nuñez pitched 0.1 inning.

At the plate, Noah Boedeker, Dalton Jahn and Gerard Nuñez led the team with two hits. Jahn went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Sean Humes, Ted Machacek and Gerard Nuñez each had one RBI.

The Cardinals take on Huntsville Alpha Omega, though specifics weren’t announced before press time.
