3 area teams make weekly ranking

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches released their polls for the week of Jan. 8. Three Gonzales area teams made the list as the Shiner St. Paul Lady Cardinals were listed as second in 2A Girls - Private, the Cardinals boys team are 10th in 2A boys private and the Waelder Wildcats made their way back, ranked 25th in Class 1A Boys.

  • Nixon-Smiley is in District 27-3A with Schulenburg, Marion, Yoakum, Hallettsville, Luling, Universal City Randolph and Stockdale.
  • Gonzales is in District 27-4A with Navarro, San Antonio Veterans Memorial, La Vernia, Wimberley and Austin Eastside Memorial.
