Texas Junior High Rodeo Association begins state finals

GONZALES — The rodeo is back in town at J.B. Wells Arena and this time it is the Texas Junior High Rodeo Association (TJHRA) that will be in taking over the arena as they hold their state finals.

Although Gonzales County will be represented by just two cowgirls, they will be particularly busy as Sadie Thibodeaux of Gonzales will be participating in five events and Kyla Stamps of Harwood will be in two.

Thibodeaux will be performing in barrel racing (Tuesday morning, Thursday night), girls’ breakaway (Tuesday night, Thursday morning), girls’ goat tying (Monday morning, Friday night) and pole bending (Monday morning, Friday night) as well as teaming up with Alice’s Tres Reynolds III in ribbon roping (Monday night, Friday morning) for the TJHRA state finals. Stamps is also in girls’ goat tying (Tuesday morning, Thursday night) as well as team roping with Bastrop’s Thres Jarosek (Tuesday night, Thursday morning).

Yesterday, Thibodeaux was scheduled to participate in girls’ goat tying, pole bending and ribbon roping though results were unavailable before press.

Today she will have her first go in barrel racing in the morning and girls’ breakaway in the evening. Stamps will have her first go in girls’ goat tying in the morning and team roping in the evening.
