Nixon-Smiley back home
After spending two straight weeks on the road, the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (0-2 in District 15-3ADII) are back at home to take on Skidmore-Tynan (1-1) on Friday.
Down 26-20 headed into the fourth quarter, the Mustangs gave up three touchdowns, losing to their rivals the Stockdale Brahmas 48-20. Chris Brown led the team in rushing, carrying the ball six times for 102 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown run. Dario Jantes also broke out for a long run, a 35-yard touchdown. Jantes finished with six carries for 66 yards and two scores. Jesse Riojas ran 18 times for 92 yards. Defensively, Issac Grant came away with a forced fumble. Xavier Arias led the team in total tackles with four solos and seven assisted tackles.
Kickoff for Nixon-Smiley’s matchup against Skidmore-Tynan is set for 7:30 p.m.

Cardinals open district with win
Shiner St. Paul opened TAPPS District 3 – Div. IV play with a 31-14 victory at home against Temple Central Texas Christian. The Cardinals opened with a 24-0 lead at halftime, with long scoring plays by Kai Giese and Carson Reese. Both Reese and Giese had 60-yard touchdown runs in the first quarter. Giese then found Atley Pilat in the second quarter with a 30-yard touchdown pass. Zak Johnson added a four-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals have a bye this week, but then travel to Hallettsville to take on their rivals, the Sacred Heart Indians, next Friday, Nov. 1.

Luling losing streak continues
The Luling Eagles (0-7, 0-2) took 63-6 loss last Friday at home against Edna (5-2, 1-1). The Eagles travel to Vanderbilt to take on the Industrial Cobras (6-1, 2-0). Industrial beat Yoakum 49-20 and Goliad 38-7 in district play the last two weeks. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

State-ranked Shiner Comanches blowing out opponents
#2 Shiner (8-0, 2-0) overwhelmed the previously unbeaten Weimar Wildcats (7-1, 1-1) 52-7, marking the second game in a row where the Comanches allowed just one score in a game. The Comanches travel to Wallis to take on the Brazos Cougars (3-4, 1-0), with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
