Three Apaches named to all-district team

GONZALES — The Gonzales Apaches missed out on postseason play after going 3-9 in District 26-4A play this baseball season. The three wins were an improvement from previous seasons as the Apaches have struggled against district opponents in recent memory.

With the Navarro Panthers losing in the regional quarterfinal, District 26-4A officially released their all-district teams and three Gonzales athletes were named with two honorably mentioned.

Ryan Benes was the lone Apache named to the first team. He was listed as a utility player.

Named to the second-team all district were pitcher Kolby Kifer and outfielder Colby Cox.

Shortstop Blake Cox and third basemen Zach Akers were honorably mentioned.
