Two people were airlifted to hospitals in Austin Saturday after a multiple car wreck at the U.S. Highway 183 and County Road 235 intersection.

According to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident happened at approximately 3:22 p.m. Saturday, June 29. Revea Hays, 32-years-old, from Abilene and her 11-year-old passenger were traveling southbound down Highway 183 in a silver Ford SUV when they swerved and clipped a red Ford sedan that was stopped in the left lane, preparing to turn on to County Road 235. The silver Ford SUV spun into the northbound lane and was struck on the left side by a Dodge pick-up truck.

Hays was airlifted to Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, while the 11-year-old was airlifted to Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas in Austin. The DPS was not alerted to the status of either individual.

The driver and passenger in the red Ford sedan were unharmed. The driver of the Dodge pick-up was transported to Gonzales Memorial Hospital by Gonzales County Emergency Medical Services.

Hays was cited by DPS Trooper David Nething for failure to control speed and seat belt ticket for child.
