Two men arrested for aggravated assault

GONZALES — Two men face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police said one threw a drill at a woman’s foot, and the other brandished a knife on a woman during an argument.

At 8:11 p.m. Aug. 10, Officer Gabriel Trevino was dispatched to the 1500 block of Guardian St. in reference to a disturbance in progress, Capt. Allen Taylor reported. While en route Trevino learned from dispatched that a man thrown a drill at a woman, striking her in the foot. Upon arrival, the officer identified the suspect as Marvin Lee Rowland Jr., 56, of Gonzales.

The victim told Trevino Rowland had thrown a drill at her foot, and the officer noticed bruises consistent with the victim’s account of the incident.

Rowland was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

At 9:10 p.m. that same night, Sgt. Dewey Sumner was dispatched to the 600 block of College St. in reference to a man refusing to leave a residence after repeatedly being asked to do so. The man had drawn a knife, Taylor said.

Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim, as well as two men at the residence. The man who had wielded the knife was identified as David Allen Diaz, 40, of Gonzales.

The female victim and the other man present told officers Diaz had pulled out the knife and threatened the woman with it, Taylor said.

Diaz was arrested and taken to Gonzales County Jail. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
