St. Paul routs San Marcos Academy to stay undefeated

SHINER — Shiner St. Paul (9-0, 6-0) ended the regular season with an unbeaten record, knocking off the San Marcos Academy Bears (1-9, 1-5), 43-0.

Three different running backs scored on touchdowns while River Haynes found Conor Kresta on a 45-yard pass for another touchdown in the 43-point rout.

Leading the way was Tre’Zell Jenkins-Perry who had nine carries for 95 yards and three touchdowns. Joseph Natal finished with four carries for 80 yards and a score. He also received three catches for 40 yards. Meanwhile, Kresta had five carries for 72 yards and a touchdown as well as one reception, the 45-yard touchdown catch.

Haynes completed five passes on nine attempts for 97 yards and a touchdown. Kai Giese went 4-for-5 for 52 yards.

Defensively, the Cardinals gave up just 90 yards rushing and 83 yards receiving.

Shiner St. Paul head to the playoffs with a bye this week as the TAPPS District 5-Division III/IV champions.
