Vernon George Hausler, 82, passed away peacefully of natural causes at home on March 28, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born May 16, 1937 in Gonzales, Texas.

Vernon was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish. In his later years, he enjoyed cooking, especially when preparing chili, stew and homemade deer sausage. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching football, nature shows and of course John Wayne movies while sitting in his chair with his cat on his lap. He also enjoyed polka music and the country humor of Justin Wilson and Jerry Clower.

He is survived by his four children: Stephen and his wife Teresa of Mineola, David of Cost, Cindy of Monthalia and Dennis also of Monthalia. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. And lastly, but certainly not least, his fluffy companion “Lucy.”

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 54 years Carol; two infant children, Edgar & Vicki; his parents Edgar & Stella; sisters, Gladys Lindemann and Barbara Mahavier.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the family will have a small private ceremony but will plan a memorial service for a later date when things have normalized for all the family to congregate and celebrate his life.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in his name to your animal shelter, your favorite charity or Monthalia United Methodist Church. Friends may sign the guestbook and express their condolences by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
