Victoria College to offer truck driving course

Beginning July 6 and running until August 13, Victoria College will be offering a truck driving course, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The course will prepare participants for entry-level employment in the trucking industry. There will be opportunities to meet industry recruiters, with room for nine students in the course. As for cost, the course is $3,780, and financial assistance is available.

Students can expect to take the Commercial Driver's License written and driving exams. They will also be expected to comply with Centers for Disease Control and Preventions guidelines, such as wearing a mask, having their temperature checked before entering the classroom and required social distancing. Students must also pass a Texas Department of Transportation drug and alcohol test as well as a physical.

In the classroom, students will learn about safety, driving techniques, rules and regulations. The course also offers behind-the-wheel driving experience at Victoria College's driving ranges as well as on public highways and streets.
