Virginia Frances Martin Hewell

Virginia Frances Martin Hewell, age 91 of Nixon, passed away on Feb. 26.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. at the Nixon Cemetery with Rev. Josh Walters officiating.

Frances was born on Sept. 5, 1927 to Marion Emmett and Ola (Kaufman) Martin. She will be remembered as the long-time administrator at Nixon High School (Nixon-Smiley) where she was loved by all the students who walked through her door. Frances most precious times were spent with family. Many good times were spent at the Hewell Deer Camp Weekend.

Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Thomas Coke Hewell Jr., her daughters, Marion Sue Baenziger and Martha Jo Haas and her husband Gary, her great-granddaughter, Marion Jean Finch, her parents, her brothers, LaFayette Martin and Ed Martin and her mother–in-law and father-in-law, T. C. and Ruby (Hensley) Hewell, and brothers-in-law, Alvin Hewell and Bird Hewell and wife Wilda Jean.

Survivors include her loving grandchildren, who knew her as “Nanny”, Terilyn Felty and husband Jon, Chelsea Silay and husband Emin, and Jarrett Finch and wife Michelle; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jackson Felty, Aydin and Mavi Silay and Austin Finch; son-in-law, Roger Baenziger and his children, Jeff, Bart and Julie and their families; sister-in-law, Doris Hewell; special friend, Hobson Parker; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and friends.
