Waelder ISD board to vote on new superintendent

WAELDER — School board officials will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 31, to finalize their decision to hire Jon C. Orozco as the district’s new superintendent.
On July 8, Waelder ISD announced they selected Orozco as the district’s lone finalist for the superintendent position. Board President Dora Noyola said the board will meet on July 31 to finalize the deal. Noyola said there has to be a 21-day evaluation period before a new hiring is made. Once hired, Orozco would replace former Superintendent Daniel Fuller, who left WISD on June 30 after wrapping up his two-year contract.
If the district votes to bring Orozco on board, his official starting date will be Aug. 1.
