Warren H. Porter

Warren H. Porter, 80, of Houston, formerly of Waelder, passed away Friday, April 7. He was born September 30, 1936 in Waelder, the son of Lawrence and Etta Faye Scoggins Porter.

He was a graduate of Waelder High School. He served with the U.S. Army and later married Yvonne Partridge on July 25, 1959 in Houston. He worked as a mortgage banker for many years and retired from Cornerstone Home Lending in 2010.

He was a member of the Hopkinsville Masonic Lodge and a life member of the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Association. He enjoyed horses and competed in team penning. Most of all he loved time spent with his children and grandsons.

He is survived by his sons: Clifton Porter and wife Melissa Wood of Magnolia and Jeffrey Baisden of Houston; daughter Dionne Ward and husband Keith of Cypress; grandsons: Kyle Porter of Magnolia and Joel Ward of Cypress and brother Marion Porter and wife Audrey of Terrell. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters: Wanda Reibenstein, Dorothy Wohlwend and Mary Catherine Jennings.

Visitation was held from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Reverend Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at the Hopkinsville Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers include Clifton Porter, Kyle Porter, Keith Ward, Joel Ward, Dionne Ward, Melissa Wood, Jeffrey Baisden and Ed Lester. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
