Warrior’s Weekend to roll through Gonzales

Veterans group plan to stop in May 17

Posted

As part of the 13th annual Warrior’s Weekend event, selected service members from across the United States will stop in Gonzales for lunch at the Elks Lodge on Friday, May 17. The veterans are expected to arrive in Gonzales at 10:30 a.m., meeting law enforcement at McCoy’s off Highway 183. From there, law enforcement will convoy the veterans around town to their lunch. Spectators are invited to cheer the warriors along their path to the Elks Lodge.

Warrior’s Weekend is a non-profit group dedicated to support of United States military veterans, with an emphasis on those wounded in the War on Terror. The Warriors Weekend event is an annual fishing trip in Port O’Connor. The Gonzales stop is a part of this larger event.

The community is being asked to help provide cookies, cakes, pies, cobblers, cookie bars and other desserts for the event. Those wanting to help contribute need to deliver their desserts to the Elks Lodge between 9-11 a.m. where there will be a dessert table set up for “all things sweet.”
