Wildcats do well at area meet

After competing at the area track meet, the Waelder Wildcats will be sending multiple athletes to the Region IV-1A meet that will take place this week at Huntsville.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Wildcats took second, third and fourth in the shot put throw. Malorie Puente took second with her throw of 30-10 ½, Brejhai Montgomery threw 29-2 ½ and Nashai Thompson threw 28-0.

On the boys’ side, Tracy Moore came home with another gold medal, finishing first in the 100-meter dash. He also took second in the 200-meter dash and third in the long jump while the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams placed second.

  • 100-meter: Tracy Moore, 11.62, first; Josh Jones-Miller, 12.00, sixth
  • 200-meter: Tracy Moore, 24.32, second
  • 1600-meter: Miguel Morales, 5:28.65, fifth
  • 3200-meter: Miguel Morales, 12:09.34, third
  • 4x100-meter relay team, 45.85, second
  • 4x200-meter relay team, 1:40.45, second
  • 4x400-meter relay team, 4:20.86, fifth
  • Long Jump: Tracy Moore, 20-7, third; Josh Jones-Miller, 19-9 ½, sixth
  • Triple Jump: Tracy Moore, 38-11 ½, fifth

Regional qualifiers will compete at Bowers Stadium at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville from April 28-29.
