Two people perished and two others were injured in a one-vehicle wreck on Moulton Road Sunday, officials said.

The Texas Highway Patrol reported that at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, a Dodge Durango driven by Lexus Koncaba, 20, of Groesbeck, was headed eastbound on FM 532 (Moulton Road) when she lost control of the car and skidded off the road, striking a tree and rolling over.

Troopers said one of the backseat passengers got out of the car, ran to the road and flagged down a passing motorist. The car then caught fire, the report said.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with an unidentified witness, pulled the other backseat passenger from the car before it was consumed by the fire.

Koncaba and the front seat passenger were reported to have been killed on impact.

The backseat passengers were airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio. Troopers said that the reason Koncaba lost control of the car is still under investigation.
