GONZALES — A two-vehicle crash sent two people to the hospital when the driver of a Chevy truck ran a red light, officials say.

At 10:03 a.m. March 1, Officer Dustin Kincaid was dispatched to the intersection of Highways 90 and 90A in reference to a two vehicle collision, Capt. Allen Taylor reported.

A 2007 Chevy pickup driven by John Falks of Gonzales ran the red light at the intersection and was struck on its passenger side door by a 2007 Chevrolet CXT driven by Erin Heller, also of Gonzales. Reports said Heller and a child passenger were injured in the collision.

“Falks disregarded the red light and turned from eastbound to northbound,” Taylor said. “This caused [him] to be struck by the other vehicle, which was traveling westbound. This caused damage to both [vehicles].”

Falks was reported to be uninjured in the crash. He was issued a citation for running a red light. Heller and the child passenger were taken to Gonzales Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for injuries.
