A criminal complaint filed in the Texas Western District Court alleges that 19-year-old Caleb Nathaniel Oliver of Smiley, Texas, purchased an automatic weapon from an undercover FBI officer in Wilson County. Criminal complaints are not considered evidence of guilt. They are charges levvied in a court of law, where defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

In the last week, the number of people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Gonzales County has more than doubled. DSHS data shows that 1,036 people have received at least the first dose of the two-shot Moderna vaccine, with 289 receiving their second dose, as of Thursday, Feb. 4. A week before, only 99 had been fully vaccinated.
