She attended school in Waelder, TX and graduated in 1967. Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Ruth “Darlene” Bruns, 83, of Luling, formerly of Gonzales, went to her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020. Darlene was born July 30, 1937 in Gonzales to Louis Baros and Frances Ruth Nelson Baros. She married Louis Henry Bruns on May 7, 1960 in the Gonzales First Evangelical Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Peter ‘Pete’ Joseph Cenotti Sr., 88, of Peconic, New York passed away Dec. 5, 2020. Pete was born Sept. 8, 1932 in West Haven, Connecticut. Pete attended Bridgeport High School. Elnora Hadamek Jurek earned her permanent wings on Nov. 27, 2020 at the age of 84, just weeks shy of her 85th birthday. Born Dec. 10, 1935 in Yorktown, Texas, to Hattie and Sebuse Edward Hadamek, Elnora was the fourth of six siblings. A memorial service in her honor will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, or Legacy Ranch Kids to honor her lifelong devotion to helping and caring for children. more

Esther Juengermann died peacefully at her home late Saturday night, Nov. 21, 2020. She was 96 years old. The sixth of seven children of Willie and Helena Wefer Rossow, Esther was born April 3, 1924 on a farm in Gonzales County. Due to the constraints of COVID 19 there will be a small committal service held privately in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to local food banks or Trinity Lutheran Church, in her memory, is suggested. more
Nathan Elder Wheat, age 84, of Nixon, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday evening, Nov. 27, 2020. He was at his childhood home surrounded by his family. Nathan was born on March 10, 1936 at Dr. Elder’s Crestview Hospital in Nixon to Jack Madison and Florine (Elder) Wheat. The family plans to have a memorial service at a later time. As Nathan had a giving heart, the family has established a memorial account at Third Coast Bank for contributions in lieu of flowers. All contributions will be given back to the Nixon and Smiley communities in his honor. more
