Lucille Copeland Lester, 81 of Gonzales, Texas passed away on August 26, 2020. Lucille was born on October 1, 1938 in DeWitt County to Reinhardt H. Alex and Esther E. (Logeman) Alex who have preceded her in death along with her husbands; Robert D. “Bob” Copeland and J.B. Lester. Lucille is survived by her sons; Gregory Ibrom and Steven Ibrom, daughters; Lennette Conn and Robbie Copeland, 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, brother; Arthur Alex and a host of family and friends. Barbara Ann Pundt Pilsner, 87, of Gonzales, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 in San Antonio.  Barbara was born July 27, 1933 in Moulton, Texas to Edwin F. Pundt, Sr. and Nee Minnie Zacharias Pundt. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Morning Circle and Prayer Group. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Ildiko Rigney officiating.  Interment will follow in Moulton City Cemetery. Victor “Vic” Gordon Mathis passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020, of natural causes, at the age of 71. Vic was born on September 10, 1948, in Butler, MO, to his parents Gordon Mathis and Laura Reeze. He dedicated his life to his business finishing concrete and performing backhoe services. A celebration of life will be held at the Gonzales Elk Lodge on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at 6 pm. The family will be there to welcome all friends and business partners. more
Hensley Tapply Hurt, 94, of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020. Hensley was born on November 8, 1925 at the family home in the community of Dewville, Gonzales County, Texas. He is the son of Walter and Kate Hensley Hurt and the youngest of four children. He joined the Dewville Methodist Church as a young boy. His great-grandfather, Elijah Randolph Hurt was a founding Trustee of the Dewville Methodist Church in 1857. Hensley was also a member of the Gonzales First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2020 in the Gonzales Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Matt Pennington officiating.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the charity of one’s choice.  more
Delbert Monroe Webb, age 70, of Ardmore, Oklahoma (recently from Round Rock, Texas, a proud sixth generation Texan) went home to Jesus on August 20, 2020. Patricia Louise Koonce Schlageter, 88, of Hallettsville, Texas, passed away August 15, 2020 at Stevens Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hallettsville, Texas. She was born in Ezzell, Texas, on December 12, 1931, to James Thomas Sr. and Louise Jane Matula Koonce. A private graveside service will be conducted. Amy Mae Rodenberg, 95, of Gonzales, went to be with the Lord July 24, 2020. She was born December 16, 1924 to Henry and Anna Marie Sassmenhauser Neitsch in Gonzales, Texas. She married Alton Rodenberg on March 20, 1948 in Gonzales. She was a member of the Elks Lodge. Services were held Sunday July 26, at 2:00 PM, graveside at the Luling Cemetery with Father Ripp Hardeway officiating. Burial followed in the Luling Cemetery. more

On Thursday Aug 6, 2020 Daniel Arturo Cantu age 78 joined our heavenly father he was born in Gonzales Texas to Jesus Cantu And Consuelo (Nerio) Cantu. Following his wishes, he will be cremated and his remains will be scattered by the dam in Gonzales Texas where he loved to fish. A small ceremony will be held by the dam at a later date. more

She surprised the world by being a twin. Erna was raised in rural Gonzales County along with her siblings. She graduated from Nixon High School in 1947. Mozelle McClure Clack was born in Gonzales, Texas on October 25, 1938 and departed this life August 5, 2020 at Guadalupe Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Walker McClure and Easter Mae Erskine. She was the youngest of 5 children. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Bonds Colony Church of God in Christ under the pastorate of Rev. F.C. Crawford. Joye Smith Mills, 91, of Smiley, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020, in Beeville. She was born May 17, 1929, in Smiley to Roy and Velma (Montgomery) Smith. She married the love of her life, Roy D. Mills on July 17, 1946, in Smiley and they together had two daughters, Beverly Mills and Joan Smith. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Smiley. The family will have private services. more
Juanita Uribe Vela, 80, of Alice passed away on July 29, 2020. She was born on May 27, 1940 in Agua Dulce, Texas to Porfirio Uribe and Santos Ruiz Uribe. She was a graduate of Agua Dulce High School in 1959. She married the love of her life, Isidro Vela, on May 9, 1964 after meeting him at a local dance at La Villita in Alice in 1961. They were married for 56 years. While living in Gonzales, she was a babysitter to children of educators. With her passion for plants and flowers, she quickly developed a green thumb and landed a job at Torres Fence and Nursery in the early 1980s. There will be a private viewing for immediate family only 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7 at Rosas Funeral Home, Inc. located at 1215 W. Front St. in Alice, TX. more
