Esther Juengermann died peacefully at her home late Saturday night, Nov. 21, 2020. She was 96 years old. The sixth of seven children of Willie and Helena Wefer Rossow, Esther was born April 3, 1924 on a farm in Gonzales County. Due to the constraints of COVID 19 there will be a small committal service held privately in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to local food banks or Trinity Lutheran Church, in her memory, is suggested. more

Nathan Elder Wheat, age 84, of Nixon, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday evening, Nov. 27, 2020. He was at his childhood home surrounded by his family. Nathan was born on March 10, 1936 at Dr. Elder’s Crestview Hospital in Nixon to Jack Madison and Florine (Elder) Wheat. The family plans to have a memorial service at a later time. As Nathan had a giving heart, the family has established a memorial account at Third Coast Bank for contributions in lieu of flowers. All contributions will be given back to the Nixon and Smiley communities in his honor. more

After an almost two-year struggle with cancer, Janet Wright Pratt, 56, of Palacios passed away Nov. 21, 2020. She was born on Jan. 19, 1964 in Gonzales to Robert and Cecilia Wright. Jo Ann Rudd, 86, of Lubbock went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born July 24, 1934 to Charles and Mildred Mang in Moulton, Texas. She graduated from Gonzales High School in Gonzales, Texas in 1952. She was known for her inward beauty, as well as her striking looks. She went from winning "Miss Gonzales," becoming Miss South Texas and then all the way to 3rd runner-up in the "Miss Texas" pageant. Jo Ann’s final resting place is Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 West 19th St., Lubbock. The Celebration Of Life Service was held in the Abbey Chapel on Nov.r 18, 2020 at 10 a.m., officiated by Pastor David Savage. more

He was a graduate of Gonzales High School and later served in Vietnam with the United States Army. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
