3 killed, 3 injured in crash on Highway 183

Three people were killed, and three more injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 183, just north of County Road 230 in Gonzales County on Monday, July 5. Rain may have played a factor in the crash, which occurred just after 3 p.m.
 
Preliminary information from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) indicates a 2018 Ford Explorer traveling south on Highway 183 lost control and crossed into the north-bound lane, colliding with a 2020 Ford F-350 towing a flat-bed trailer. 

The driver and two passengers in the Explorer died in the crash. A fourth passenger was transported to the San Antonio Military Hospital. 

The driver and passenger of the F-350 were transported to Ascension Seton Edgar B. Davis Hospital in Luling. 

The names, ages, and cities of those killed in the crash have not been release pending notification of next-of-kin. 

No updates were available on the condition of the three injured people. Their names have not been released. 

First responders from Gonzales County responded to the crash scene. 

The Texas Department of Public Safety would like to remind the public to please be extra cautious when driving in wet weather conditions. Slow down, avoid slamming on the brakes, increase the distance between your vehicle and others, check the tires for proper tread depth and pressure, check the windshield wipers and replace if needed and be sure all lights are properly working.
