The 63rd annual Come and Take It has come and gone. Though the festival featured some new attractions, this year’s celebration remained unique to Gonzales.
Patrons braved sweltering heat throughout the weekend to enjoy all the staples of the festival: the downtown parade, the Battle of Gonzales re-enactment and the chicken flying contest. New events this year featured the petting zoo and Nest Fresh egg toss and they appeared to be well received.
The Gonzales Chamber of Commerce estimated the event would bring 10,000 to 15,000 people to the city.
