The Gonzales Lady Apaches traveled to Hallettsville for a non-district game against the Lady Brahmas Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The Lady Apaches fell to Hallettsville, 49-38, but the loss didn’t overshadow a historic moment for one Gonzales player.
Gonzales High School senior Bella Aguero made history in becoming the second Lady Apaches basketball player to score more than 1,000 career points; joining former Lady Apaches Linda Muelker who is the programs leading scorer.
Aguero is a four-year starter who began her career as freshman on the Lady Apaches basketball team. She quickly became one of the leaders on the team on and off the court.
Aguero’s career points total is now at 1,001. She needed 16 points to get to 1,000 and scored 17 points in the loss to Hallettsville.
The Lady Apaches will take on Nixon-Smiley Friday, Nov. 15 on the road and will host Long Creek Tuesday, Nov. 19.
