The Gonzales Lady Apaches lost their first two games in the Wimberley Hoopfest on Tuesday, Dec. 28, dropping contests to St. Michael’s of Austin and Lampasas. They then lost their first game Wednesday, Dec. 29, to Lago Vista, 40-24.
In the first game, Gonzales lost to St. Michael’s, 50-43. Quarter by quarter breakdown was not available.
In game 2, the Lady Apaches managed to keep up with Lampasas for the first half before the Lady Badgers turned on the gas and raced to a 67-29 rout.
Lampasas took a 10-5 lead after one period of play and a 23-15 lead at the break. In the second half, however, they outscored Gonzales, 44-14, including 21-2 in the final frame.
There was a bright spot on the day for the Lady Apaches, however. Senior guard Audrey Martinez did win first place in the varsity girls three-point contest Tuesday.
