BASKETBALL: Mustangs fall to Stockdale, 63-35


The Nixon Smiley Mustangs took a hard-fought 63-35 loss on Tuesday, Jan. 18, on the road at the hands of the Stockdale Brahmas.

The Mustangs hung in the game throughout the second quarter, but the Brahmas had too much firepower, opening up a 15-point halftime lead.

The Mustangs were led in scoring by Bradyn Martinez with nine points. Braxton Regalado had six points, while Dustin Mejia scored five. Carl White Jr., Ruben Bomer and Holden Canion each scored four points. David Abundis scored two and Luke Moses scored one.

The Mustangs will continue their district season Friday, Jan. 21, at home against the Cole Cougars. They will host Northern Oaks on Tuesday, Jan. 25, and play at Luling on Friday, Jan. 28.
