Benard Ray Yates

On June 22, 2021, Benard Ray Yates passed away in Floresville, Texas. Benard was born on August 7, 1943, in Cuero, Texas to Benard Elzner Yates and Mae Rose (Wildgrube) Yates. Benard was a proud Army Veteran and Green Beret who enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren and supporting them at all of their sporting events. He was an ordained minister and quite the “handy-man”.

Benard is survived by his children: Desire Witherspoon, Christopher Ray Yates (Tiffany Talley Yates), Loraine Zuniga (Robert), and Stephanie Yates; grandchildren: Story Witherspoon, Cody Yates, Jody Yates, Brittany Hayes, Madeline Grace Velasquez, Calley Ray Yates, Chandler John Yates; siblings: Orvetta Grayson (Gerald), Janice Martin (Joe), Murry Yates (Diane), and Donna Upshaw; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Benard and Mae Rose Yates; son: Benard “Benny” Yates; infant twin brothers: James and John Yates; sister: Bonnie Garrison; brothers: Glenn Yates and Darryl Yates; and brother-in-law: Danny Upshaw.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, 5 to 8 p.m., at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon, Texas. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 25, 2021, 10 a.m. at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.
